Hello all

Brief info on Minnie.
Well Minnie was not happy on the science diet so because  we have our Golden Retriever on a chicken and Rice Gluton free food we thought we would try Minnie on that. 

All in all Minnie has had  a great 7 months, with no medication at all.
She is more happy in herself and is virtually pain free, at the moment,
Minnie still scratches but not as much as before and her leg problem is not as

noticeable. Photos to follow.

LATEST UPDATE ON MINNIE

After returning from our 2 week Holiday (Vacation) I can now update on Minnie.

Minnie was quite poorly in the early hours of this morning; she had a severe alergic reaction, where  she was very sick and and scratched her skin till it was very red,  we are not sure what the alergic reaction was. but a visit was made to her Vet who gave Minnie an antibiotic injection, also a steroid injection.
 Her ears and skin were very inflamed and she also had a raised temp so  in three weeks she will have blood tests, the wait is because of the steroid  injection.

Minnie was also taken off Beta food  and was put on The Science Diet. however she will visit her vet again On Monday.

 Her Metacam medication  was also removed.

I will update after her next visit to her Vet on Monday.

Minnie is well today and seems to be settling well on her medication.

It is so sad to read how many Cavalier King Charles are affected by Chiari-Like Malformation. I personally would recommend that they are all insured because the MRI scans are quite expensive.

The three page synopsis sent by Claire Rushbridge, Of Stone Lion Hospital, needs a lot of reading then I can enter the summary on the Blog. Anyone one who wants to know more about this condition please check out the links in My Blog.

MINNIE DAILY UPDATE

Minnie went for a nice walk last night and went at her pace and enjoyed it

She had her ear drops in this morning but they make her legs collapse, however afterwards she is ok.

She seems in good shape although sleepy.

Medication Minnie is on at the moment

Up date on the medication that Minnie is on. At the moment she is on Metacam which is a Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug;this drug is helping with her general well being.

Her ears that have narrowing of the canals need to be kept unblocked so she is having Canaural ear drops; when the ears have resonded to these drops they can start her on Cimetidine.
Cimetadine is a CSF pressure reducing drugs which may be sufficient to control signs in some dogs.
